Did Joe Rogan Use Anabolic Steroids?

Some people have been wondering if Joe Rogan used steroids during his time as a UFC fighter. There is no definitive answer, but some clues suggest he may have used performance-enhancing drugs in his career.

Rogan has never confirmed or denied using steroids, but in a 2006 interview with Playboy, he admitted using Human Growth Hormone (HGH) while still competing in the UFC.

“At the time, it was, you know, pretty common. So many people were using it,” Rogan said in the interview. “It was before it was banned. And I did it for a little bit, and then I stopped because I didn’t like how it made me feel.”

HGH is a banned substance in the UFC, so Rogan’s admission does not prove that he used steroids. However, it does suggest that he was willing to use performance-enhancing drugs to improve his fighting ability.

If Rogan had used steroids, some of his peers would likely have noticed and commented on the issue. So far, no one has directly accused Rogan of using steroids, but plenty of anecdotes from people in the MMA industry suggest he may have.

For example, former UFC fighter Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller once appeared on Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. During the podcast, Miller talked about episodic memory and said he thought it would be “strange” if Rogan could remember all of his old fight sequences without taking steroids.

“It would be strange if Joe could remember all that without taking steroids,” Miller said. “I don’t know how he does it.”

Rogan did not respond to this comment, but it’s clear that Miller doesn’t think very highly of Rogan’s memory skills. So while this doesn’t prove that Rogan tried steroids, it does suggest that there may be some truth to the accusations.

Ultimately, there is no definitive proof that Rogan used steroids during his time as a UFC fighter. However, the circumstantial evidence suggests that it’s a possibility.
